The DAVIS STARLIFTER is a simple, effective dual-purpose tool designed to lift logs off the ground to a stable position for a clear cut avoiding chainsaw damage, and for removing or adjusting steel posts. This unique lever action technology reduces previously difficult and hazardous work to a one-person job and eliminates back strain caused by heavy lifting. It enables users to elevate a log for cutting in one smooth action while remaining upright - no bending or lifting. It lifts T-posts vertically out of the ground alleviation damage to the post and allowing re-use.

The tool weighs only 17.5lbs (8kg) yet can lift logs up to 3,307 lbs (1,500 kg) in weight. It can be used to lift horizontal logs from 2.5 inches (60mm) to 2 feet (600mm) in diameter to a ground clearance of 1 foot (30cm) at the sawing point. It doubles as a tool to lift iron T posts and enables adjustments to be made while a fence is intact, without requiring the operator to bend or twist.

The DAVIS STARLIFTER is the first tool of its kind and its basic design principle is made up of the following components. The pole is made from a length of 6 foot (1.8 meter) long x 1 inch (2.5cm) diameter pipe which works on leverage. The shoe consists of a cam shape component measuring 1 foot (30cm) x 5 inch (12cm) at the bottom end of the leverage pole. These components act to lift the load through leverage.

The device is stabilized by another piece of 1 inch (2.5cm) pipe running vertically to the cam shaped shoe. A hook mounted approximately one-third of the way up the handle engages the log and holds it so that the simple application of leverage can lift the log.

The DAVIS STARLIFTER is a single unit which has been constructed using high quality plated steel that will give a long service life. The post removing component is made of Bisalloy ‘Bisplate80' a low alloy, high strength steel plate with a yield strength three times that of carbon steel. This is similar to the steel grade that is used for armor plating in defense and civil applications. The unit comes with a 12 month structural guarantee which is limited to normal use but does not cover damage caused by improper use.

This product does not only appeal to farmers, woodcutters and fencers; Government organizations have also purchased the DAVIS STARLIFTER for road works (including removing road sign spear heads from road base and bitumen) and for cleaning up fallen trees after storms. When Fire departments used them for cleanup operations, they were able to elevate a still smoldering log or tree and hose underneath it to prevent fires restarting. Other bodies that have adopted this technology include electricity companies for capping power poles.
